John Michael “Ho Ho” Quigley, 76, of Freedom, NH passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 15, 2025. He was born on February 7, 1949 in Providence, RI, the son of Thomas E. Quigley and Claire (Collins) Quigley.
John was the devoted husband to Ellen (Renton) Quigley 43 years. John would often refer to Ellen as the love of his life to anyone he was talking to. John was a loving father to Shawn M. Quigley and Cari-Ann Quigley-Packhem. John is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Kierstin Schuerman (Riley), Skylar Quigley, Hannah Packhem, and Connor Quigley. John also had a great granddaughter, Aurora Schuerman who he recently got to enjoy spending time with. John is survived by his sisters, Carol Harnois (Roland) of Florida and Mary Ann Patkoske (Michael) of Cape Cod. He was predeaceased by his parents and his siblings, Thomas F. Quigley, Robert S. Quigley and James E. Quigley. He was also the loving uncle to many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John dedicated 22 years to the Providence Fire Department, a career that he loved immensely. John was also well known for being an amazing Santa and would volunteer his time spreading cheer on the polar express and to children in foster care. He was fondly known by many as Ho Ho. He was a man of kindness, generosity and intergrity. John also enjoyed retiring to New Hampshire and spending time skiing, snowmobiling, and boating on Lake Ossipee. John also loved throwing parties at his home for any occasion. John loved to vacation with his wife, and friends Tony and Joyce Cacicia, enjoying 40 cruises together. John also loved working on construction projects with his friend, Michael Dutra. John was a season ticket holder to Red Sox Spring Training and loved going to games to cheer on his team. John also was an avid Patriots fan and would enjoy throwing many football parties.
At the family’s request, the funeral service will be private.
