John Edward Sullivan Jr. "Jack" It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jack who died peacefully in his home on February 16, 2021. Jack was the son of the late John E. Sullivan and Sarah (McGinn) Sullivan and brother of the late Mary (Sullivan) Hickey. Born in Providence on March 26, 1937, Jack was raised in the Mount Pleasant section and was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and Providence College (1959). Jack was married to the late Muriel (Paulhus) Sullivan “Mickie” for 54 years. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara McAloon. He leaves his four children, John E. Sullivan III “Jay” (Kathleen Kelly) of Narragansett; Beth Farrell (Mark) of Saunderstown; Timothy Sullivan (Susan) of Coventry; and Amy Creed (William) of Saunderstown. He is survived by eight cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Breanna) and Casey Farrell; Kiley, Mackenzie, and William Creed; Jack Sullivan; and Michaela and Peter Sullivan. He is also survived by four step-children, Leo McAloon (Elizabeth), Tara McAloon, Justin McAloon (Candace), and Kate Bostian (Walter), and six step-grandchildren. Jack was employed at Hilti Inc. for over 25 years. He served as Executive Senior Vice President of Sales for Hilti America and was a board member of Hilti Western Hemisphere. Jack was proud and grateful for his opportunities at Hilti which included extensive world travel with his wife Mickie. Jack served as vice chairman of the Board of Governors for Higher Education under Governor Sundlun and as the treasurer of the Health and Education Building Commission under Governor Almond. Jack lived in Narragansett for the last 40 years and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jack and Mickie wintered in West Palm Beach for 15 years where he annually hosted the “Rhode Island Open” at Bear Lakes Country Club for many years. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am – 10:45 am on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Rd., Narragansett. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am in St. Veronica Chapel. His burial will be private. A livestreaming of the mass will take place at 11 am on Saturday, February 20, 2021 and may be found by visiting https://livestream.com/stm/stv-funeral Contributions can be made in Jack's name to your local food back or charity of choice. The funeral director and staff will be monitoring safety and capacity protocols. Social distancing will be observed, and face coverings are respectfully required. Church seating will be limited. Arrangements entrusted to the J. F. Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremations, 925 Chalkstone Ave., Providence.
