John ("JJ", "Jaybird") Joseph McAleer lll January 26, 1954 ~ November 13, 2023, of Westerly, RI JJ was born at Ft Benning, Georgia (currently called  Fort Moore) to the late Col. John Joseph McAleer Jr and Virginia Whittemore McAleer. He was the Brother of the late Pamela Baines of Florida and is survived by sister Linda M O’Connor of CT. JJ grew up all over the world living and traveling with his military family in Japan, Thailand, Germany and in 8 different states. He attended High School at Dunrobin School in Golspie Scotland that was housed in Dunrobin Castle an ancestral home. He also attended Avon Old Farms in Connecticut. He was an avid reader and was insatiable in that regard. He always had a book in hand or close by. He could fix or build anything put in front of him. Friends and family have always referred to him as “McGyver” because he always found a solution to any problem and could fix anything. Services and burial will be private.
