John T. Mcgill (Aka Johnny Watson Jr.)

John T. McGill (aka Johnny Watson Jr.) 75 of North Providence passed away January 18th at the Oakland Grove Health Center in Woonsocket. He was born December 31, 1947 in Gastonia North Carolina. He was the son of the late Edith (Brown) McGill and John Lewis McGill. The brother of the late Majorie Santos of Providence and the late Regina McGill of Baltimore Maryland. He is survived by his son John T. McGill Jr. and his beloved friend and business manage Rosanne Riley. John was born with cerebral palsy and underwent several procedures to straighten his legs. He also was legally blind. Despite all his obstacles he received his Associates Degree and worked as a counselor and telemarketer for the City Parks Department. His real love was his music. In 1990 John and his manager formed “The New Decade Band” and in 1992 he released his album “Bringing Down The House”. In 2014 with his new band “Johnny Watson Jr and the Watson Blues Band" he released a second album “Stepping Out". John will be greatly missed by many fans and close friends. A celebration of John’s life will be held March 4th 2-6pm at the home of Kristen Smith, 19 Driftwood Drive, Coventry RI. Please RSVP by February 25th 401-368-1779.
