John R. Mirandou

John R. Mirandou, 87, of East Greenwich, passed away May 31, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marguerite M. (Fournier) Mirandou. Born in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Gaston Maurice and Rose A. (Desrosiers) Mirandou.

Mr. Mirandou attended Providence College and was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. He was an Army Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and had worked for the US Government as an aerospace engineer and later as a nuclear quality assurance specialist, receiving numerous awards. He was also a talented craftsman and built boats in his younger years.

Besides his wife he leaves his children: Annette M. Lawrence (Daniel), Jacqueline A. Wesson (Rick), Mary J. Rego (Russell), Michelle C. Kettner (Wayde), Raymond J., Joseph M. (Jeanne), Matthew J. (Terri), Suzanne M. Wilson (Charles) and Michael R. (Helen); grandchildren: David, Stephen, Andrew, Danielle, Michael, Joshua, Tiffany, Matthew, Amber, Corey, Nicole, Ryan, Jenna, Brea, Ashley, Jason, Sarah, Annabelle, Michelle, Kevin, Angelica and Rachelle and great grandchildren: Hadley, Henry, Sydney Roxy and Ian. He was the father of the late Daniel P. Mirandou.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 6th at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours: Sunday, June 5th 4-7pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich.
