Joseph was a career serviceman in the United States Army having proudly served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
He spent much of his early army time in Okinawa and several stateside US Army Posts. In February 1959, he deployed to Pirmasens, Germany with his wife and daughter following in May 1959. That
August, Joseph M was born at the U.S. Army Hospital in Muenchweiler, Germany. In late May 1962, Joseph's deployment orders resulted in the family's NYC return to await available housing at the
White Sands Missile Range-Holloman AFB, New Mexico and Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas consecutively.
In January 1968, Joseph arrived with his family to serve as First Sergeant at the Nike Site in Coventry, RI, and upon his military retirement
in 1976, he remained in Coventry to enjoy their country home. After retiring, Joseph gained Federal Civil Service employment with
the Federal Aviation Administration as an Electronic Technician Supervisor and finalized his
Federal Civil Service Retirement at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts.
A family man to the core, Joseph was a quiet kind of a guy with a huge heart and wonderful sense of humor. In his free
time, he found great joy engaging with myriad hobbies - coin and stamp collecting, all kinds of arts and crafts, especially
creating unique Windcatchers as well as anything photography and videography-related. He valued collecting antique
cameras and took great pride in developing his own photographs the "old-fashioned way."
Joseph's fascination with
te
chnology led him to build his very first computer and teach his family how to use it. A favorite evening out with his wife during the "good old days" in N
YC would likely include his passion for ballroom dancing, especially rhythmic Salsa, Tango,
and
Lindy Hop. Joseph was, indeed, a man of many talents which also led him to volunteer for several year
s
as the Miss RI Scholarship Program videographer.
