It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Joseph R. Greene, 84, a life-long resident of East Greenwich, who passed away on October 3, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lucy N. (Montini) Greene. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Rita (Couchon) Greene.
Mr. Greene had been a pipe fitter for Electric Boat and had served in the US Army Reserve. He was a member of the East Greenwich Veteran Firemans Association and the Rhode Island Shellfisherman’s Association.
Joe lived to be on the water and was a life-long quahogger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking, particularly for his family on holidays. He especially loved spending time with the apple of his eye, his grandson, of whom he was extremely proud and shared a special bond.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children Joseph (Lauren) and Rosemarie; his one and only grandson and best friend Carlos; step grandchildren Alanna and Timmy; sisters Dianne and Cindy; brother Willie; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman, Ralph and Connie.
He will be deeply missed.
Funeral Service Tuesday, October 8th at 11:00am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Greenwich. Calling hours: Monday, October 7th from 5-8pm.
