Joseph Medeiros, Sr.

Joseph Medeiros, Sr., 84, of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019.  He was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Almonte) Medeiros for 54 years.  Joseph was the son of the late Antonio and Arsenia (Lima) Medeiros.

Joseph was a hard worker within the family businesses, which included Federal Dairy and the State Street Supermarket.  Thereafter, he and his wife Frances operated the Monte Vista Diner in Seekonk, MA and are the owners of the Vista Realty Group.

He also served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany.  He was an avid bowler and golfer, loved old movies and the song and dance era.  Most of all, Joseph adored his family and spent all the time he could spoiling his grandkids.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Sandra McCoy and four sons; Joseph Jr., Richard, Robert and his wife Christine and Gilbert and his wife Kimberly.  He was the loving grandfather of Paige, James, Jessica and Jordan McCoy; and Morgan, Michael and Anthony Medeiros.  He was the brother of Mary Medeiros and the late Walter, Gilbert, Arsenio “Sam” and Anthony “Tony” Medeiros.

Funeral Friday, February 8 ^th at 9:00am from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich.  Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich.  Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.  Calling hours:  Thursday, February 7 ^th 5-8pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joseph may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
