Josephine Chan of Cranston, RI, passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 73. She worked at the Mai Tai Restaurant and Dragon Palace for over 25 years and Stanley Bostitch for 15 years.Born on November 15, 1951, Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She was known for her infectious laughter, playful sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to caring for her loved ones.Josephine especially cherished every moment spent with her beloved granddaughter, Carmela. She lovingly crocheted bags, blankets, and toys by hand—each one a testament to her creativity and affection. Her face lit up with joy whenever Carmela was near.An avid gardener, Josephine cultivated a vibrant and thriving indoor plant habitat that reflected her nurturing spirit. She had a deep love for animals, especially her late dogs, Baby and Pretty, and her cherished birds. A true enthusiast of life's simple pleasures, Josephine also enjoyed shopping and finding joy in the little things and never turned down a sweet treat—her love of desserts was as well-known as her warm and caring nature. Josephine is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Kwong Fai Chan; her daughter, Joann, and son-in-law, Scott Conti; and her treasured granddaughter, Carmela.She is also survived by her brothers, Ringo Fung of Canada and Sun Fung and his wife Marianne, along with their daughters, Hannah, Leah, and Olivia. Josephine will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Daniel and Emily Wong and their children, Edwin, John, and Henry; and David and Anna Lai and their children, Jennifer, Lawrence, Jessica, and Eric.Josephine’s warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held at Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremations at 925 Chalkstone Ave., Providence, RI on Friday, August 8th form 930am- 11:30am followed by burial in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery 1 Rhode Island Ave. Johnston.
