Julia M. Rogers, 90 of West Warwick passed away on September 6, 2021. Born in Warwick she was a daughter of the late Fred E. and Hazel (Dimon) Rogers. She moved from Warwick in 1976.
She was a 1949 graduate of Lockwood High School and a 1953 graduate of Rhode Island College of Education. She earned a master’s degree in education from Boston University in 1958.
She was a public school teacher in Coventry for 33 years, retiring in 1986.
She was an active member of East Greenwich First Baptist Church and had been a volunteer at South Providence Neighborhood Ministries.
She was a life member of the National Education Association and the Retired Teachers Association. She belonged to RINEA-RET., the Kent County Retired Teachers Association, and the Audubon Society.
She is survived by two nieces; Dianne H. Tessier and Carol A. Rogers; three nephews Kenneth E. Rogers, Jr., Jeff A. Rogers and Douglas M. Rogers. She is survived also by numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Linda Neal. She was the sister of the late Annie L. Dyer, Kenneth E. Rogers, Sr. and Clinton M. Rogers.
She could be counted on to get a card in the mail for every occasion. She was a gardener and a reader, a lover of travel and jigsaw puzzles. For the last several years her furry companion Emmett, as well as her wonderful neighbors, brought much joy to her life.
Funeral service Friday September 10, 2021 at Noon at the East Greenwich First Baptist Church, Peirce St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name to the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich or a charity of one’s choice will be appreciated.
