Lana Deym Campbell, 77, an Artist and Poet of Providence, RI, passed away on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022 after a long struggle with cancer. Lana was born Countess Deym von Stritez in 1944 in the Czech Republic, and grew up in South America, Europe and the United States. She graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in New York City, and settled in Rhode Island in 1980, moving first to Newport, then Portsmouth and lived in Providence since 1988. In Providence, she also worked for environmental and social justice causes, and served on the board of Sojourner House. Lana was inspired by nature and loved animals, she had a number of pets over the years, enjoyed visiting Roger Williams Zoo and taking walks in Lincoln woods. The majesty of nature was a major theme in her paintings and poetry. She is survived by her son Michael Campbell, her grandson Maxwell Campbell and her half-brother Dean McLean. Burial will be held this Saturday, January 15th at 11:00am in St. Columba Cemetery at 465 Brown's Lane, Middletown, RI 02842. Arrangements entrusted to the J.F.
