Leonard J. Sheehan

Leonard Joseph Sheehan, 65, of East Greenwich, RI, passed away unexpectedly on January 21st, 2019.

He was born March 19, 1953, in Frankfurt, Germany, to the late William Barrett Sheehan and Anna Marie (Leonard) Sheehan of Brockton, MA.. he is survived by Kathi Mullaney, his beloved companion of 20 years.

A 20 year veteran of the North Kingstown Police Department, Lenny was also a long-time member of the East Greenwich Fireman’s Club, where he was a well known and respected member of the first responder family.

Quiet and private, those fortunate enough to have been close to him will remember him as easy to be around with an engaging sense of humor and a kind heart. He was an understanding and trusted friend who was always ready to lend a hand.

He will be sorely missed by his siblings Mary Sheehan Winn and her husband Donald of Marshfield, MA; Agnes (Sheehan) McMillen and her husband Daniel of Taunton, MA; James F. Sheehan and his wife Diane (Paiva) Sheehan  of Taunton, MA; and Thomas E. Sheehan and his wife Anne (Benjamin) Sheehan of Concord, NH.and their sons Ryan and Colin.

He also leaves his niece Christine (Hart) Stonebridge and her husband Ray, his nephew Winthrop Sheehan Cottrell, his wife Heather (Davies) Cottrell and their children, all of Naples, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his late sister Anna Marie (Sheehan) Cottrell, of Naples, Florida.

A celebration of Lenny’s life will be held Friday, April 26th from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at the East Greenwich Fireman’s Hall.
