Lewis A. Phillips, 87, passed away at home on September 20, 2016 after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Theresa A. (Mello) for 56 years. The son of Ralph and Margaret Jane (Randolph) Phillips, he resided in East Greenwich for his entire lifetime.
Mr. Phillips was Army veteran of the Korean War and was employed by First National Stores for 38 years. He was also employed part-time by McKeever’s IGA. He later worked for many years at Our Lady of Mercy School & Church in East Greenwich.
He was the father of Thomas (Angelyn), Mary Shepherd (Jeff), Michael (Cherrie), Margaret Zuercher, Charles (Nancy), James, Susan Kurtz (Robert), and Elizabeth Carlson (Robert). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michael Phillips, John Lewis Zuercher, Rebecca Stokes, Daniel Phillips, Colby Phillips, Abby Phillips, and Andrew Carlson and a great grandchild, Connor Stokes. He was the father of the late Stephen Phillips (Shelley) and the brother of the late Ralph, Raymond, and Mildred Phillips.
Funeral Thursday September 22nd at 9:00 am from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main Street, East Greenwich with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
