Lillian A. Hutchinson of East Greenwich, RI, passed away peacefully on Monday November 11, 2024. Lillian was born 12/28/1930 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Jennie and Edward Arendt.
Lillian spent her early years working at the Bassick Company in Bridgeport, CT, where she met her future husband, Charles T. Hutchinson. Her life was dedicated to raising her family in Westport, CT from 1956 through 1985, at which time she moved to East Greenwich, RI for the remainder of her life. Upon retirement, Lillian and Chuck spent many years traveling the world enjoying adventures both far and wide.
A long-time bowler, Lillian enjoyed weekly games at Kingstown Bowl with her bowling friends until the age of 92.
She was an avid gardener and worked tirelessly in her yard to establish and maintain her beautiful flowers. She was a member of the Cindy-Wood Garden Club for many years as well as the New Neighbors Club, where she made many wonderful friends upon her move to RI.
But by far her most cherished time was spent with her family. Lillian was a very kind, compassionate, thoughtful woman filled with a tremendous heart and strong spirit. She was a wonderful Nana and Gigi and so very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made an awesome poppy seed cake and apricot cookies in honor of her Hungarian heritage that were loved by all.
In addition to her parents, Lillian is pre-deceased by her husband Charles, brother Edward, sister Jean and young son Jonathan Alexander (“Sandy”). She is survived by her daughter Karen Hutchinson Carlson, grandchildren Caitlyn Carlson Smith (Ryan), Justin Patrick Carlson (Megan), two great grandchildren, Patrick Jeffery and Maura Lillian, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral and burial will be private.
