Lois H. Huber

Lois H. Huber, 92, a longtime resident of East Greenwich and wife of the late Walter “Jack” Huber and daughter of the late Charles and Blanche (Northup) Haggerty, passed away April 16, 2016.

Mrs. Huber was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy in Providence, RI. Class of 1941, and a graduate of Rhode Island College Class of 1945. She was a fifth grade teacher at Eldredge Elementary School in East Greenwich, RI, until leaving to raise her family. Lois ultimately returned as a substitute teacher for several years. She was also a Cub Scout Den Leader and supporter of her sons’ athletic activities and was a great fan of the Boston Red Sox. During WWII, Lois was active in the USO and worked part time at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station, “Home of the Seabees.”

Lois is survived by her sons Douglas (Lynne), Lawrence (Pat) and Robert (Alison). She also leaves her grandson Derek (Sarah) and granddaughters Casey Barks (Tom), Caroline and Olivia. “G.G.” also leaves great grandsons Jack and Beau Huber, who always brought a smile to her face.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Visitation will be prior to the mass from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local Catholic Charities.
