DeCesaris, Lorriane Marie Schmidt (Burns)

Of East Greenwich passed away after a brave, year long battle with cancer on Friday, July 21, 2017 under the kind care of Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. She was predeceased by her son, Steven Schmidt, of San Jose California. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Richard and Susan Ruggieri, of North Kingstown, her sister and her husband, Regina and John Blair of Wakefield and her brother, James Burns of Warwick. She was grandmother to Blake, Rachel and Brent Ruggieir of North Kingstown as well as aunt to several nieces and nephews. She was previously married to Evert Schmidt.

From a young age, Lorraine was an accomplished pianist and loved music, theater, knitting and traveling.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 29th at 10:00am at St. Francis De Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown. Burial will be private. Calling hours: Friday, July 28th 6-8pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 (HopeHospiceRI.org) or the American Cancer Society.
