Mabel D. Fortes

Mabel D. Fortes, 104, passed away September 17, 2020. She was the wife of the late Alfred A. Fortes, Sr. Born in Waltham, MA she was a daughter of the late Antone and Claudina (Sousa) Duarte.

Mabel enjoyed being surrounded by her large family and looked forward to family gatherings and visits. She often demonstrated her affection for her family with her passion for cooking and baking. She would concoct an assortment of homemade desserts, including layered cakes, pies, and crème puffs. Additionally, Mabel loved keeping her mind sharp and exercising her competitiveness by playing card games. We will remember her infectious laugh, warm heart, and generosity.

She is survived by four children; Roberta C. Bans, Gerald Fortes, Cynthia F. Resch and Timothy A. Fortes, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Alfred A. Fortes, Jr. She was one of nine children.

Her funeral and burial will be private.
