Margaret M. Ross

Peggy Ross was born on September 4, 1936 to Edward H. Ross and Margaret M. (Rigney) Ross. She lived in the same family home all of her 89 years. She had three sisters, all now deceased: Mary M. Zolkos, Elizabeth A. Casey, and Jane A. Hawkins.

When she was young she worked in her uncle’s ice cream shop “Rigney’s Ice Cream”. She would tell us stories how every morning the first thing she would do before she opened the store would be to make herself a hot fudge sundae.

She was an avid fan of the Providence College Friars Basketball. When she was younger she would go to all the games, even going to the NIT In New York.

Peggy Ross loved her family above all else. She was always there to help.

She had two dogs, Meghan first, and after she passed, she rescued Janie. She was devoted to those dogs, went everywhere with them.

She loved to travel, from cruises with her Aunt Anne and friends in her much younger days, and later to Long Boat Key, Florida to her sister’s condo with her best friends, cousin, and niece. She went to Ireland and Bermuda about 25 years ago. Up until the present day she was happy going to North Conway, New Hampshire for a few nights twice a year and going on shopping sprees to all the outlets. Shoes, purses, and outfits were a must, and everything had to be coordinated.

Peggy always enjoyed a day out where she had her hair done at the hairdressers, then out for a good lunch at her two best restaurants: Applebees and Twin Oaks.

Peggy worked for Allendale Insurance Company for many years and then went to work for the Department of Environmental Management, Division of Parks and Recreation where she worked for over 20 years retiring to care for her sister who had cancer.

She leaves behind her niece, Peggy Dunn and her companion Bobby Pistacchio, her nephews Eddie and his wife Debbie, Mickey and his wife Jen, Paul and his wife Gina, and Norman and his wife Jackie Zolkos, and six great-nieces and nephews: Paul Zolkos, Jr., Giada Zolkos, Luke Zolkos, Brodie Zolkos, and Jania and Zachary Zolkos.
