It is with profound sadness that the family of Mario Abatiello announce his passing on December 18, 2021 at the age of 35. He will be forever remembered by his loved ones as a generous, hilarious goofball. Â
Mario joins in heaven his father Paul Abatiello, his mother Stephanie Martone Abatiello, and his aunt Marie Martone. Â He is lovingly remembered by his his wife, Nicole Gagnon Abatiello; their three fur babies Samantha, Beretta, and Sauer; his brother Paul, his sister Tina, his aunt Debora; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Â Â
Mario worked in emergency medical services for ten years and had worked for the town of Scituate for the last eight years. He found his calling as a paramedic in 2019. Always calm in a crisis, Mario took great care in his job.  He always advocated for his patients and gave them the best possible care. One of Mario’s proudest achievements came in the last year of his life as he became a teacher of paramedic students at the University of Roger Williams Providence campus. He took great pride in helping his students to become exemplary paramedics.
In 2017 he met his true love, Nicole. He had a special smile reserved just for her; one he introduced (along with his sense of humor) on their very first date.  He smiled her smile, and said, “See? I have a full set of teeth!.† In their five years together, they rarely spent a day apart. They married on Mario’s favorite day, Halloween, in 2020. Mario’s adoration and pride in marrying Nici was never more obvious than at the celebration of their wedding on Halloween 2021. He was unafraid to show his tears of joy when he first saw her.
Mario had a passionate love of all things gaming.  He had recently shared his love of board games with his nephews Patrick, Jackson, Russell, Richard, William, and his niece Abigail. He was elated when they agreed to play House on Haunted Hill and even more excited when several of his niblings loved the game. Mario had a dedicated online family as well. His online family spanned more than fifteen years and has members across the globe. They will never forget his generosity and humor. Â
Mario’s life ended too soon but he touched hundreds of lives.  He will be forever in our hearts. At this time there are no services being held. There will be a memorial to honor him held in the spring. Rest in peace, Newman. Â
Due to current health climate a memorial will be held at a later date.
