Mary M. Killen

Mary Killen, 86, of Wakefield, formerly of East Greenwich and Naples, Florida, passed away at home on June 3rd surrounded by her loving family. Mary was the beloved wife of William R. Killen. She graduated from Bryant College and was a legal secretary prior to becoming Vice President of Polychem Corporation, a family owned chemical business for 21 years. She is survived by her husband of 62 years and 3 children, Karlene Kelly, Karen McKenzie, and William Killen IV., as well as 7 grandchildren. She was the sister of Helen Reilly and was pre-deceased by her sister Joan Hearne and parents Michael and Maryellen Duggan both born in Ireland.

Mary loved being in the company of her children and her many friends. Her warm and fun personality made everyone want to be in her company! She enjoyed entertaining, cooking and making her home a welcoming place to be. Mary loved to be on the beach and spent summers at Bonnet Shores for years. Mary considered herself first a mother and homemaker but as time went by she assisted her husband in their family business and became quite an astute business woman. A work week always ended with dinner out with her husband and friends. Mary loved going to restaurants and having a perfectly made martini or manhattan, she did not care as much about the food but valued the decor and atmosphere most!

Mary was proud of her Irish ancestry and was a wonderful daughter and daughter in law. She enjoyed traveling back to Ireland and throughout Europe. Mary met her husband in 7th grade and he was truly her committed love and soul mate. Together, they had an adventure filled life! Mary was an excellent grandmother and cared for them like a second mom.

Mary believed in having faith in God, she attended Mass every Sunday. She exuded being a Christian woman each and every day.  Mary is now in the palm of God’s hands breathing peacefully. Her beautiful blue eyes will be missed...Until we meet again.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 10 at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
