Saddened and heartbroken, the family of Michael “Mike” R. Truppa wants to let the community of family and friends know that on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, Mike passed away peacefully.
Michael “Mike” R. Truppa, CPA , 78, was born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 1 st (All Saint’s Day) in 1944. He was the beloved son of the late Amico “Rico” Truppa and Emma (Rao) Truppa.
Mike was a football player at Arizona Western College and later attended the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) where he graduated in 1967 with a B.S. in Accounting. He was also a member of the Rhode Island Society of CPA's and the American institute of CPA's.
In 1965 Mike met the love of his life, Kathi Bess in college; they were married in 1967 and were blessed with two wonderful children Bryan and Michelle.
He began his career at KPMG Peat Marwick in Providence, Rhode Island. He also held the positions of Vice President and Controller of the Peoples Bank in Providence, Rhode Island and Controller of the Kunzmann Chain Division of Erwin Pearl, Inc. In his retirement, he worked as a consultant for Toray Plastics and was a recovery auditor at Profit Search; both located in Rhode Island.
An avid sports fan, Mike loved to golf with his friends, cheered on The Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics, the New England Patriots, and the PC Friars Basketball team.
Mike was an astute businessman and co-founder of Plaza I and Plaza II in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
Most of all, Mike enjoyed spending time with and was totally dedicated to his family. He loved spoiling his grandchildren with treats and enjoyed being a part of their accomplishments. He spent countless hours attending and watching Jack play sports and Molly play music, act in plays, and model.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Catherine “Kathi” J. (Bess) Truppa and two cherished children Bryan M. Truppa and Michelle C. (Truppa) Hanlon and her husband Dan Hanlon, and his two grandchildren Molly and Jack Hanlon of whom he was very proud. He is survived by his loving brothers, Amico “Rick” Truppa and his wife Patricia (Noonan) Truppa and Ronald D. Truppa and his wife Lori (Caruolo) Truppa. Mike leaves his dedicated sister Donna M. (Truppa) Rainone and her husband Michael Rainone. He also leaves several nieces and nephews with whom he shared a loving relationship.
He was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church in East Greenwich, Rhode Island on March 15, 2023 at 10 o'clock AM. Burial will be private.
