Molly Hogan (fka Nancy Clarke Dorr), 77, of Greenville, RI, passed away on June 14, 2023. Molly was born on December 7, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to James Lane Clarke and Nancy (Shepard) (Clarke) Dorr. She graduated from the Northfield School and went on to study nursing at the University of Rochester School of Nursing, graduating as an RN.
Molly was an intelligent and independent woman who led a fascinating life. She moved to the San Francisco area after graduating from nursing school and fell in love with boats and sailboats, eventually becoming certified as a US Merchant Marine first mate. She worked a tugboat route from Washington to Alaska for several years. She lived on boats in Sausalito, CA and Bainbridge Island, WA before settling on land in the Petaluma, CA area, where she purchased the old Fallon general store/post office and railroad depot. She studied with Bonnie Prudden and opened a practice in myotherapy in Marin County. She also became involved in video production, starting her own company, Mermaid Productions, after the success of her brother Johnny in the same field in LA. She then worked as a travel nurse for San Mateo County until her retirement.
Molly moved back to the East coast to be near family in 2022 and was living at Stillwater Rehabilitation at the time of her death.
In her free time, Molly enjoyed building boats, rescuing feral cats, international travel, and singing in the Bach choir. She traveled to Israel several times to learn about the Palestinian people. She was also a member of St Mark’s Lutheran Church in San Francisco.
Molly is survived by her sisters, Judith Stewart of Westford, MA, Carolyn Dorr Rich (Earle Rich) of Mont Vernon, NH, and Martha Dorr (Don Malenfant) of Douglas, MA, a sister-in-law Rose Dorr of West Sand Lake, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Lane Clarke, mother, Nancy Shepard Dorr, stepfather, Dudley H Dorr Jr, and stepbrothers, Dudley A (Lee) Dorr and John H Dorr.
There are no services planned for Molly, and the family will celebrate her life privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your local animal shelter or humane society.
