Muriel Patricia Mackie-DosReis, 75, of Warwick, RI, passed away on June 25, 2024.
Pat was born on June 22, 1949 in Providence RI to the late Muriel and Terrence Mackie. After graduating from St. Xavier’s Academy, she went on to study Nursing at Rhode Island College.
Pat started at the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) of RI in 1982, working as a case manager and hospice coordinator. She was instrumental in forming the hospice team at VNA. After leaving VNA in 2000, she worked for Neighborhood Health Plan/Connect. Throughout her nursing career, Pat was a strong advocate for underserved populations, and was widely respected by her peers. She was an active member and eventual president of The Rhode Island Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals.
In addition to her work helping countless patients and their families, Pat loved reading, going to lunch with her friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Robert and her daughter Allyson. She is survived by her two brothers, Vaughn (Terry) and Dan; son David; daughter Patti; stepchildren Joe and Robin; as well as her five grandchildren: Joseph, Olivia, Morgan, Noah, and Miles. She also leaves behind many loving friends and extended family members.
A viewing will be held at the Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremations 925 Chalkstone Avenue Providence on Tuesday July 2nd from 10-12 followed by a service in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Raymond's/St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 1240 No. Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 an organization Pat felt strongly about.
