Jane attended and graduated from St. Xavier Academy in 1949. She went on to further her education at URI College of Pharmacy, where she forged the way for other girls by going into an occupation that very few women were involved in the early 1950's. She was one of only 3 woman in that program at the time.
After graduation, she married Robert Wynne in 1956, and had 2 children, Christopher and Susan.
She worked as a Registered Pharmacist for many years in East Greenwich. First at Kent Pharmacy where she was arrested for opening the store on a Sunday. She was quickly let out and that led the fight against the Blue Laws, if at the least for drug stores opening on Sunday.
She worked for Thorpe’s for many years, serving the community. She also worked and eventually retired from CVS Pharmacy, taking over for Tom Ryan, as he rose in the company.
Jane was happiest in 1971, when she married the love of her life, George King. They married in EG Town Hall and rode to the reception down Main Street on a Fire Truck! They had one son, Kevin King, in 1973, Georges only child, and he kept them young for years to come. Her happiest times were when they could stay at the cottage on Cape Cod. She also loved to watch the birds in the summer from their deck in Bay Ridge.
She was an avid reader, and when teamed up with her brother, Steve Kelly, MD, for a game of Trivial Pursuit, there was no beating them. She loved Lobster, and would eat it every chance she got, it became somewhat of a joke in the family. Jane, like her mother before her, loved spending time with her family, loved when she became a grandmother, and always said at family gatherings, "Isn't it nice we're all together" In that sense, even as we grieve, her whole family is very glad she is finally "together" with her love, George!
