Nicholas Christian Oliveira, 34, of East Greenwich passed away on September 23, 2024.
Nick was the beloved son of Frank and Barbara (Edwards) Oliveira of East Greenwich. He lived most of his life in Lincoln before moving to St. Petersburg, FL in 2019. Nick spent the final year of his life living with his loving parents in East Greenwich.
Nick graduated from LaSalle Academy in 2008, where he was heavily involved in the theater program. He went on to study elementary and special education at Rhode Island College, where he graduated in 2012. From 2008 to 2011, he was a camp counselor at the YMCA in Lincoln. Never venturing too far from home, Nick went on to teach 4th grade at Whelan School in North Providence before landing his dream job as a special education teacher in Cumberland. He spent one year teaching at Cumberland Hill Elementary and the next 5 years at Ashton School. Along with being a teacher, he also spent 13 years as co-director of an arts outreach program at LaSalle. In his spare time, Nick loved to hang out with friends and family, enjoy a glass of red wine and cheer on his favorite sports teams, particularly the Patriots and PC Friars. During his time spent in Florida, Nick developed a passion for the game of pickleball, which he played daily.
Nick was the loving brother of Zack Oliveira, and his wife Meaghan and Matt Oliveira, and his fiancee Hailie Williams. He was also the cherished nephew of Jayne Edwards, and her husband Edson Powell, and Manny Oliveira. Most importantly, “Uncle Nick” leaves behind his nieces and nephew. He will also be missed by his cousins and friends. Nick is predeceased by his grandparents, Elmer and Jane (Lovely) Edwards and João and Maria (Dantas) Oliveira.
Nick’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 30th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. His burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, East Greenwich. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 29th from 2-5 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St, East Greenwich, RI.
