Norma T. Loehr, 62 of North Kingstown, RI peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 15, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Greg, and their children, David and Sarah. Norma was the daughter of Norman and Therese Benton. She is also survived by her sisters, Sheryl Chabot, Kathy Champagne and Michelle Craft, her step-son, Greg, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Norma graduated valedictorian from West Warwick High School in 1972. She went on to graduate from Providence College and Indiana University, where she earned her Master’s in Sociology. After college, she worked at the Navy Exchange in Quonset, where she met the love of her life. Norma found her dream job at the North Kingstown Free Library, where she nurtured her love of reading. She bravely battled early-onset Alzheimer’s for years before ultimately succumbing to the disease. Her beautiful smile could light up any room. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 20th at 10:00am at St. Francis de Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown, Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours: Monday December 19th 5-7 pm at Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of RI - Early Stage Program, 245 Waterman Street Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
