Norma Ruth Ann Menders Robinson, also affectionately known as “Mimi” by her grandchildren, entered into eternal life at the age of 98 on March 26, 2025, in the loving hands of her daughter.
Norma was born in Providence, Rhode Island, lived in the Smith Hill neighborhood, and attended Saint Patrick’s school and the Saint Joseph School of Nursing, where she also was a Professor. She worked as a Nurse at Kent Hospital, the James L Maher Center, and in various schools in the Providence Public school department. She earned an additional degree in Counseling from Rhode Island College in 1971.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Linda Rallo, and Gail Robinson; and by her son in law, Tom Rallo, and Gail’s boyfriend, Tommy Santaniello; as well as Nancy Robinson and her husband Denis Vincent; and her longtime loving partner, Richard Heston. She was known as “Mimi” by her four grandchildren, Jeffrey Rallo, Tommy Iafrate, Allison Rallo Little, and Tyler Robinson; and by her four great-grandchildren, Colton, Connor, Charlie, and Cooper. Norma was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Menders; by her brother, Edward Menders; by her sisters, Joan Rocha, and Carol Geremia; by her loving sons, John David Robinson, and David John Robinson; and also by her husband of 56 years, John Robinson.
Norma was an avid tennis player who played the game well into her eighties; she was also a phenomenal quilter; a mentor in the North Kingstown school system; a Stevens Minister; and a devoted member of Saint Francis DeSales church in North Kingston, Rhode Island, where she participated as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and member of the Parish Council. Norma will be fondly remembered and forever missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday April 1st at 12:30 pm at Saint Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown RI 02852. Burial will be in Rhode Island Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours prior to the the church service from 11am-12pm in the Fagan – Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown under the direction of the HILL-SKEFFINGTON FUNERAL HOME of East Greenwich.
