Norman R. Maloof

Norman R. Maloof, 86, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the husband of Betty Jean (Shott) Maloof and the late Patricia Maloof. Born in Attleboro, MA on April 9, 1938, he was a son of the late Edward and Viola Maloof.

Norman had an unmatched passion for all things mechanical. From the age of 12, he rebuilt cars and mastered machines, including his 1934 Ford Coupe, which he drag-raced at just 14.

After graduating from Attleboro High School, Norman enlisted in the U.S. Navy, following in his brother Robert’s footsteps. As an aircraft mechanic, he worked on the renowned Corsair fighter planes, living and working aboard aircraft carriers during his service, which took him to many corners of the world. During this time, he met and married his first wife, Patricia, with whom he raised three children in Rhode Island.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Norman started a career at Bostitch in East Greenwich, where he worked his way up to plant manager. A devoted husband and father, he raised his family in East Greenwich, never straying far from his brother Robert, as the two lived down the street from one another. Norman was a dedicated member and deacon of Frenchtown Baptist Church in East Greenwich, where his faith played an important role in his life.

After Patricia’s passing, Norman found love again with Betty, with whom he enjoyed retirement, traveling to places like Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.

Cars and motorcycles, especially those American-made, remained a central part of Norman’s life. He was an active member of his Street Rod Club, and his passion for mechanics never waned.

Besides his wife he is survived by two children, Shelley L. Osman and Glenn S. Maloof, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, humor, and dedication to family. He was the father of the late Randy S. Maloof and the brother of the late Robert Maloof.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
