Patricia Belden Carlson

Patricia Belden Carlson, 72, died October 21 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. She was the beloved wife of Paul C. Carlson for 45 years. Patricia was the daughter of The Right Reverend Frederick Belden and his wife Dorothy. Though born in Amsterdam, NY, she spent most of her life in Wickford, RI.

She was a gifted teacher of English at East Greenwich High School for 30 years. She served as Chairman of the North Kingstown Free Library for 15 years overseeing the expansion of the building. She served on many civic committees and in 2001 was awarded the Albert C. Henry, Jr. Community Service Award.

She is survived by two brothers Jeffrey O. Belden and his wife Diane of Portsmouth, RI, Bruce E. Belden and his wife Claudia of Wickford, RI, two nephews, two nieces and two grand nieces.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Church, 55 Main Street, Wickford, RI on Saturday November 11, at 11:15 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Church, 55 Main St., North Kingstown, RI 02852 or the RI Foundation, One Union Station, Providence, RI 02903.
