With loving hearts we remember Patricia ‘Pat’ Kachanis, who passed away on February 24, 2026 at the age of 87. Patricia lived a life centered on faith, kindness and caring for others. Touching the lives of many children she was a ‘lunch lady’ for the city of Pawtucket for over 30 years. She faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister as well as a good friend to many while living in Florida for 25 years. Even during her time at St. Antoine her compassion never faded – she was often found holding the hands of other residents, comforting them and watching over them so much that many fondly called her “the supervisor”. Patricia’s gentle presence and loving heart brought peace to those around her. Pat touched many lives with her kindness and commitment. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. Thank you to the staff at Saint Antoine, SCU, for the daily care and love they showed for her.
She was the devoted wife of the late Robert E. Kachanis Sr. with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
Pat was the cherished daughter of the late Armand and Olga (Roberts) Lemieux.
Pat’s family was everything to her. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Catherine P. Boucher of Cumberland, RI and her son Robert E. Kachanis Jr. of Florida. She is also fondly remembered by four grandchildren: Alexander Boucher and his wife Amanda of East Greenwich, Benjamin Boucher and his wife Elizabeth of Suffield, CT, Molly and Jordyn Kachanis of North Smithfield. Her legacy continues with 2 great grandchildren: Mia Boucher and Maeve Boucher. She was preceded in death by her siblings Robert Lemieux, Olive Cherry, Arthur Lemieux and Russell Lemieux.
To honor Pat’s memory and celebrate her life, a service will be held on Saturday, March 14th at 11:30pm in the Saint Antoine Chapel located at 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield, RI 02896. Burial will be a private matter for the family and calling hours will be respectfully omitted.
For those wishing to offer condolences or seek additional information arrangements have been entrusted to the Skeffington Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations in Pat’s memory can be made to Saint Antoine, c/o Garrett Sullivan, 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield, RI 02896. Please visit hillskeff.com for additional information.
