Patricia (Pat) Marguerite Baker peacefully passed away in Pascoag, RI on Thursday, January 12, 2023, surrounded by her family. Pat was born in Freeport, Illinois on January 19, 1935 to Arthur Floyd Carroll and Mary Marguerite (Backus) Carroll. The family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and later Glendale, California where she went to school. She married Donald Henry Baker and raised three children in Tujunga, CA. Shortly after the death of her husband, she moved to Warwick, Rhode Island. Pat enjoyed watching birds and other wildlife and she was very interested in science. For many years, she was a docent at Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge where she greatly enjoyed guiding tours for school groups of inner-city kids. She loved painting, ceramics, photography, and other arts. She greatly enjoyed listening to music and had a wide and varied tastes. She was an avid reader and was very generous in sharing books with her children and friends. Pat was a kind and loving mother who fostered curiosity, artistic expression, and the individual talents in each of her children. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and half-brother, Robert E. Carroll. She is survived by her sister Barbara Ann (Carroll) Steele, her three children David Arthur Baker, Mary Elizabeth Baker, and Scott Gregory Baker, daughters-in-law Ellen Spears Baker and Debra Pasquerette Baker, son-in-law Scott Fedick, nephew Jon Steel, and niece Holly McTighe. A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held.
