Pauline T. Furfari

Pauline (LaCoste) Furfari, 93, of Warwick, passed away on December 4, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Pauline was the beloved wife of the late Santo A. Furfari, who passed in 2011. She was the daughter of the late Clement and Lucille (Hufault) LaCoste. Pauline was a devoted and loving daughter and wife, caring for her parents and husband until their passings.

Pauline was a graduate of Sainte Chretienne Academy in Salem, Massachusetts and Katherine Gibbs School. After her marriage, she devoted her life to the care of her family, friends, church, and community. Pauline was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams, and a long-standing “professional bingo-ologist” who enjoyed her adventures into the woods of Connecticut.

Pauline’s driving force was faith and family. She was the epitome of what a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend should be.  Her life was enriched by the joy of motherhood. She was the mother of Paula (Michael) Tassoni, of Warwick; Lisa (Guy) Lasorsa, of Coventry; Donna (Keith) Scally, of Warwick; Janice (George) Butts, of West Warwick; Peter (Heather) Furfari, of Wrentham, Mass.; and Christopher Furfari, of Warwick. She was predeceased by newborn daughter, Laura Furfari. She leaves her brother, Dr. Clement (Joan) Lacoste, of Quincy, Mass.; sister-in-law, Grace (Furfari) Serratore, of Reading, Mass.; 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of 3 additional great-grandchildren at the time of her passing.

A devout Catholic, Pauline’s daily devotion to our Blessed Virgin Mary was a testament to her unwavering faith which guided her throughout her life. Over the past 60 years, Pauline was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Church in East Greenwich. She was a member of the parishes’ Legion of Mary and served as a Eucharistic Minister to area nursing homes, hospitals, and parish members in their homes. Pauline served as a volunteer for the Foster Grandparents program in the East Greenwich school system and the Meals on Wheels program.

Although our hearts are heavy, we are comforted and find peace knowing her soul is free. We will forever cherish our precious memories of her. Her content, peaceful, and calming demeanor; her beautiful blue eyes and beaming smile; phone calls where she would lyrically announce “hello….it’s your mother”; holiday and birthday celebrations, Sunday dinners and, above all, her pure heart.

As we reflect on our beautiful Pauline, we celebrate and honor her legacy: a life well-lived, with limitless devotion to faith and family. May we all strive to live by these qualities she so gracefully and humbly embodied.
