Penny (Bruna) Vitelli

Penny (Bruna) Vitelli, born in Berlin, New Hampshire, longtime resident of New Britain, CT and most recently resident of East Greenwich, RI died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.

She was the beloved wife of her ‘honey’ Joseph J. Vitelli of 61 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Fengler and her husband Jerry of Fort Myers, FL, and Donna Lennon of West Greenwich. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Marc and Scott Fengler of Connecticut and Nina, Kevin, and Daniel Lennon of Rhode Island as well as 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In her early years, she attended New Britain High School and the Moody School of Business. She was employed with Stanley Tools and then most significantly Macristy Industries in accounts payable as well as an expert switch board operator. She was a partner with her husband in both Penny Real Estate and for the Hartford County Sheriff Department for many years.

Her passion and love for her family and friends was unmatched. She always had a smile on her face and her laugh was contagious. Her generosity of spirt was something that had a way of showing people that they were loved and appreciated. She attributed her longevity to an insatiable appetite for chocolate and enjoyed sweets every day.

She also enjoyed coffee, traveling, music, dogs and could be found at a local bingo game. She was a devote Catholic as well as an active member of the Elks Club, Sons of Italy, Ladies of the VFW, and Cedar Lake Terrace Association.  She wintered in Fort Pierce, FL and summered at Cedar Lake in Chester CT. Her final years were spent at St. Elizabeth Home in the Cove Unit in East Greenwich, where they loved and cared for her like family.

Funeral services will be held at Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main Street, East Greenwich, RI from 4:00 - 6:30. The Celebration of Life portion of the evening will be held from 6:00 - 6:30, which is a dedication to her life and guests are invited to share their own happy memory. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Elizabeth Home, Cove Unit, One St. Elizabeth Way, East Greenwich, RI 02818.

She will be missed dearly by her family, friends and all who knew her.
