Peter John Mcgovern, Jr.

passed away unexpectly on Wednesday, January 28, 2015.  Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Peter J. McGovern and Guseppina (DiMillio) McGovern.  A 1968 graduate of Providence College, Peter spent the last of his public service career with The Newport Housing Authority; he then retired to his home in Middletown.  Peter was an avid golfer and a member of Green Valley Golf Club. He is survived by his wife Mary (Gouthreau) McGovern and his daughter Anne Legendre and her husband Steve Legendre. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church 179 Academy Avenue, Providence on Monday February 2, 2015 at 10am. Relatives and Friends are invited. Burial will be in St Ann Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to a charity of your choice.
