Ralph Joseph Rennie, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7 th . He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jean (Hultgren) Rennie his son Brian (Jodi), daughter Doreen (Russell), grandchildren Crystal, Glenn, Matthew and Julia and great grandchildren Kayden and Beau.
Ralph was born in Alverda, PA and was the youngest of eight children. He and Jean made a home for their family in Rhode Island where they lived for 50 years including in North Kingstown, Exeter and West Greenwich. He was well-known and respected in the thermoforming and packaging industry where he worked for 60 years before retiring.
Ralph is a United States Air Force veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean War. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a faithful parishioner of Saints John and Paul Church in Coventry where he was an usher for many years. He loved to work on cars, and projects around the house and in the yard. He was known for his willingness to help others whenever there was a need, often dropping what he was doing to support them. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending special events in their lives gave him great joy.
In this time of sadness for our family, it seems appropriate to share an Irish blessing that he often recited, “ May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand”. He will be missed immensely but has left us with many loving memories, and we take comfort that he is with God in heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 16th at 11:00 am at Sts. John & Paul Church, South Main St., Coventry. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to St. John Neumann Shrine, Philadelphia, PA, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice in his name.
