Raymond Gerard Paradis

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Raymond G. Paradis, who passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, at the Life Care Center of Attleboro.

Raymond was born on March 15, 1938, in Lewiston, Maine, to his loving parents, Medora and Gerard Paradis, who predeceased him. He was the brother of Maurice Paradis of Portland, Maine.

Raymond leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Kathleen Paradis, as well as his cherished children: Kevin Paradis and his wife Suzanne of Farmington Hills, Michigan; Jennifer Smith and her husband Michael of Sharon, Massachusetts; and Michelle Alessandro and her husband Christopher of Carmel, Indiana.

He was a proud and loving “Umpa” to his five grandchildren, Ryan Paradis and his wife Jill, Casey Paradis, Alexandra Smith, Samantha Smith, and Peter Smith. He was also blessed to be the great-grandfather of Nikko Paradis. Raymond’s family will forever miss his guidance, his thoughtful advice, his wonderful sense of humor, and his gentle, caring spirit.

Raymond attended St. Dominic’s High School in Lewiston, Maine, before continuing his education at Providence College, where he graduated in 1961. He devoted his professional life to education and to the many students whose lives he touched. Before beginning his long career at Classical High School in Providence, Raymond taught at Barrington High School and taught Statistics in the Business Department at Providence College.

At Classical High School, Raymond taught mathematics until his retirement in 1996 and spent many of those years serving as the head of the Math Department. His dedication to teaching went far beyond the classroom. He inspired countless students academically and personally, offering encouragement, support, and a steady belief in their potential. Even after retiring from Classical High School, Raymond continued doing what he loved by teaching math at Bishop Feehan in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Raymond also had a lifelong love of hockey. For many years, he was involved with Providence College hockey as the manager of the penalty box. He spent countless hours in ice rinks throughout Rhode Island as a hockey coach, referee, and devoted fan. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots, always enjoying the excitement and camaraderie that came with following his favorite teams.

In retirement, Raymond treasured time spent with his extended family and his many friends. He had a special gift for bringing laughter to any occasion and was always ready for a practical joke or a playful way to brighten someone’s day. His warmth, humor, and easygoing nature made him someone people naturally wanted to be around.

Within the family, Raymond was affectionately known as the “dog whisperer.” He was loved by all of his grand-dogs, especially his beloved Annie. His gentle spirit and loving nature extended not only to people, but also to every animal fortunate enough to know him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gordon, Raymond’s neurologist, and to all the staff and medical team members who provided him with such compassionate care at The Branches, the Life Care Center of Attleboro, and Hope Hospice. A special thank you is extended to Lori, Patty, Maura, Jennifer, Melissa, and all of the CNA's at The Branches; Lori and Jessica from the Life Care Center of Attleboro and Margaret and Jennifer from Hope Hospice. Your kindness, care, and support meant so much to Raymond and to his entire family.

Raymond’s life was filled with love, laughter, dedication, and service to others. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched—as a husband, father, grampa, brother, teacher, coach, friend, and beloved family member.

A Mass of Christian will be celebrated Friday September 25, 2026 at 10 am in Saint Augustine Church 20 Old Road Providence. Prior to the Mass the family will greet friends & family from 9:15 - 9:55 am in the vestibule of the church.
