Robert H. Cooke

Robert (Bob) H. Cooke, (Bumpa) age 93 died peacefully on Wednesday December 6, 2023. Born in North Attleboro, MA he was the son of the late George E. and Emma M. (Thiele) Cooke. He was the husband of the late Janet (Culhane) Cooke whom he was married to for over 40 years.

Bob was a US Navy veteran serving 4 years aboard the USS Tarawa, during the Korean War.  Bob loved to share stories of his experiences during his Navy time. After serving his country Bob spent his career working at Texas Instruments in Attleboro, MA until he retired.

Bob was an avid golfer, moving to Naples, Florida after his first wife Janet’s passing in 1995 to play golf year round. While in Florida he met his second wife Janet (Hildreth) Cooke, They were living in Ocala Florida, when she passed away in 2012.  Bob continued to reside in Florida until returning to New England in 2014 to live with his daughter Julie in North Kingstown RI, where he spent the last 9 years of his life. Bob loved to read mysteries, do jigsaw puzzles, play with their dog Lily and eat lobster.

A very social and personable man Bob greatly enjoyed his weekly visits with his friends at Gregg’s restaurant in North Kingstown, RI for fish and chips, where he always had a twinkle in his eye and was occasionally known to tease & flirt.

Bob leaves behind his daughter Julie (Cooke) O’Keefe of North Kingstown, RI, along with beloved grandsons Michael R. Vigorito, his wife Nicole of South Carolina; Matthew E. Vigorito of California; Thomas R. Vigorito and wife Victoria of North Attleboro, MA; and granddaughter Courtney A. (O’Keefe) Gray, her husband Kevin of South Kingstown, RI. Along with many great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by eldest daughter Patricia (Cooke) Vigorito of North Attleboro, MA,  brother George E. Cooke Jr of So. Plymouth, MA, and his sister June A. (Cooke) Langille of North Attleboro, MA.

Memorial Services will be private.
