Robert V. Girasole, Dds

Robert V. Girasole, 70, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL formerly of North Kingstown, passed away on January 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary C. (Cope) Girasole, with whom he recently celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary. Born in Attleboro, MA and raised in Johnston, RI, he was the son of the late Victor and Ruth Girasole of Cranston.

Bob was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and went on to earn his BA at the University of Connecticut where he was a brother of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He then earned his DDS at West Virginia University and from 1972-1975 he completed a Fellowship of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He was board certified in this field in 1978. His private practice had offices in Kent County where he was an active member of the Kent County Memorial Hospital staff. While in practice, he developed an interest in economics such that by 1990, he completed a Masters Degree program in economics and finance at Bryant College, and was named to Omicron Delta Epsilon International Society in Economics. In 1990 he was appointed to the full-time faculty at Salve Regina University, where he retired as Associate Professor in 2005. He founded and operated West Bay Capital of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, until his recent illness.

Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife Mary, his daughter Tracy Miner and her husband Peter of Saunderstown, his son Christopher Girasole and his wife Jennifer of Bedford, NH, and his four beloved granddaughters: Abigail, Grace, Avery, and Violet. He was also a beloved brother-in-law, uncle, and dear friend to many, all of whom knew and loved his kindness of heart, gentleness of spirit, fierce loyalty and integrity.

A lifelong Red Sox fan, Bob also enjoyed golf, landscape gardening, carpentry, history, dogs and music of all kinds. He was a lifelong student who consistently strived for self-improvement in all areas of his well-lived life. While he loved learning and enjoyed so many hobbies and interests, by far his greatest love was for his dear family, of whom he took such care each and every day.
