Rosalind F. Barnes

Rosalind F. Barnes, 84, longtime resident of North Kingstown, RI, passed away May 7, 2020 at Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick, RI. She was the wife of the late Herbert W. Barnes for 58 years. She was born in Providence, RI to the late William and Marie (Muccino) Braga.

Rosalind, Roz to family and friends, lived in Cranston, RI as a small child but grew up in Somerville, MA until she married in 1955. She did not like the name Herbert so she called the love of her life Barney, Bill or just Barnes. Barney was in the Navy when they married and Roz was very proud to be a Navy wife. Roz and Barney traveled the world with the Navy living in Pensacola, FL; Camp Lajuene, NC; Portsmouth and Virgina Beach, VA; West Warwick and North Kingstown, RI; Kifisia, Greece; and Vista, CA before retiring to North Kingstown in 1972. She was a lover of crossword puzzles, dogs, and never missed an episode of Jeopardy!.

Roz is survived by two sons; William and his wife Pamela of Warwick, RI, Denis of North Kingstown, RI, her granddaughter Katy of Warwick, RI, her sister Rita (Braga) Tauro and her husband Ed of Burlington, MA, brother Ed Braga and his wife Margaret of Arlington, MA, brother Richard Braga and his wife Judy of Oviedo, FL, brother-in law J.B. Barnes and his wife Susan of Brackney, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnes was predeceased by her son Richard Barnes, her brother Bill Braga Jr., and her dog Sophie.

Due to current health and safety regulations her funeral and burial will be private.
