Russell P. Richards

Russell P. Richards, age 72, passed away on December 22nd, 2023, after a long illness. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of Harry G. Richards and Claire C. (Branigan) Richards. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra A. (Anderson) Richards; his children, Scott Richards of Brooklyn, CT and Jennifer L. Ackroyd of Cranston, RI; 4 grandchildren: Brandon and Sarah Richards of CT and Bethany and Robert Akroyd of Cranston, RI; 2 brothers: Michael Richards of Delaware and David Richards of Warwick, RI; and his sister, Patricia Mendoza of East Providence, RI. Russell was a member of the US Coast Guard during the Vietnam era. He was a graduate of CCRI in Warwick, RI with a degree in Machine Design. He was an electrical inspector at General Dynamics Electric Boat working on submarines and later retiring due to illness. He was a life member of the American Legion and Post#14 and served as a Past District Commander and a Past State Commander. He was also a member of the 40/8 Voiture 1144. Russell was also a life member of the Tri-City Lodge of Elks in Warwick, RI.  Committal Prayers with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd at 1:00pm at the Rhode Island Veteran Cemetery, Exeter.
