Stephanie M. Hansen

Stephanie M. (Abela) Hansen, 48, of Coventry and formerly of East Greenwich passed away July 20, 2016 after a lifelong, courageous battle with Diabetes. She was born in Suffern, NY, the daughter of Kathleen P. (Flanagan) Abela-Steimle and the late John P. Abela. She was the step daughter of Karl Steimle.

Stephanie was a Psychotherapist and passionate about the wellness of her clients. She loved her career for the many opportunities that it provided her to help others. She was a University of Massachusetts Amherst graduate and received her Masters from Cambridge College.

Stephanie was a strong, proud woman who was determined to never let diabetes defeat her. She lived for her relationships with family, friends, and patients all of which she cherished. She was a devoted mother and was extremely proud of her son Matt. She was a beloved Aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Besides her mother and step father she leaves a son Matthew I. Hansen; siblings Michael A. Abela (Diann) and the late John R. Abela and step siblings Brian D. (Nicole) and Michelle A. (Barry) Steimle; and nieces and nephews Caitlyn, J.P. and Michael Abela, Brea and Sean Wood and Mallory Tutton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 26th at 10:00am at Sts. John and Paul Church, 341 South Main St., Coventry. Burial will be private. Calling hours: Monday, July 25th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481.
