Stephen (Steve) Harrington, age 67, passed away peacefully with his devoted wife Kathi by his side at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where he received wonderful care extending his life for many years. Steve was a true hero during those years in his battle with heart disease and no one wanted to live more than he did.
He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of the late John J. Harrington Sr. and Shirley E. (Case) Harrington. He was the loving husband of Kathleen M. (Scott) Harrington. Steve has been reunited in heaven with his brother John J. Harrington as well as his younger brother Timothy P. Harrington. Steve leaves behind many dear friends whom he cherished over the years.
Stephen attended schools in East Greenwich where he grew up before settling in Chepachet where he built his dream home on his grandfather’s lot at Echo Lake. He lived happily there with his soulmate Kathi for 34 years.
Steve started his career in welding at Electric Boat. Later on he was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 17, until he faced health challenges. He had an enthusiasm for both gas and electric radio-control cars and boats. This enthusiasm inspired Steve’s R/C Hobbies. Steve was known for his love of anything fast including his Harley Davidson Road King Custom. Steve proudly built a 1932 Ford Coupe which he later sold for his Z06 Corvette.
Steve enjoyed many winters snowmobiling with Kathi all over New England and into Canada. During the Summer, you could find Steve out on Echo Lake or having a late lunch at Cadys Tavern. Steve played the best tunes on the juke box everywhere he went. There was never a conversation with Steve that didn’t make you smile or chuckle to one of his silly jokes. Steve was a warm and loving soul who will be missed dearly.
