Stephen P. Wilcox

Stephen P. Wilcox, 58, of Hollywood, Florida, passed away on December 27, 2023. Born on August 10, 1965, in Pawtucket, he was the beloved son of the late Donald F. Wilcox and the late Regina L. (Morris) Wilcox.

Stephen was a devoted son, brother, uncle, veteran, and loyal friend whose sense of humor and kindhearted nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. To his nieces and nephews, he was affectionately known as “Uncle Silly,” always ready with a joke, prank, or playful tease that brought laughter to family gatherings.

He is survived by his brothers, David Wilcox and his wife Diane of Ashland, Virginia, Michael Wilcox of Attleboro, Massachusetts, and Matthew Wilcox of Narragansett, Rhode Island.

He also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews, Heather and Gina Lee of Virginia, and Olivia and Sean of Massachusetts. He was the twin brother of the late Dianne M. Wilcox of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Stephen graduated from Charles E. Shea High School in 1983. During his teenage years, he worked for Young’s Caterers, where he formed many friendships. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1984 to 1990. During his service, he completed a world tour aboard the newly recommissioned USS Missouri, an experience he remembered with great pride throughout his life.

After his military service, Stephen traveled throughout the country working in underwater construction before relocating to Florida in 1992. There, he helped repair homes damaged by Hurricane Andrew while working with Choquette Development. Over the years, he also worked for BellSouth, Verizon, and Hard Rock Cafe.

Stephen treasured the friendships he made growing up in Pawtucket, the bonds he shared with his fellow sailors, and the many friends he made during his years in Florida. He enjoyed fishing, biking, scuba diving, and spending time outdoors. He was especially known for caring for the neighborhood cats, blue jays, and squirrels that visited him daily for treats and attention, reflecting the gentle compassion that defined his character.

Stephen will be buried with military honors.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Skeffington Funeral Home & Cremation. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery.
