Susan Bouressa, 61, of Warwick, RI passed away peacefully on the evening of January 31. Susan was loved and will be sadly missed by her three children, David Bouressa, Samantha Bouressa, and lan Bouressa of Warwick. Her grandchildren, Olivia and Michael Giarrusso, made her laugh, made her proud, and were her delight.
A lifelong resident of Potowomut, RI, Susan remained close in spirit and proximity to her loving parents, Elizabeth Kenny and the late Bernard Kenny. She was the middle child of five daughters, and is survived by sisters Maureen Kowal (Steve), Karen Kenny, Kristen Kenny, and Beth Natko (Shawn). Her nieces and nephews enjoyed their time with Auntie Susan. She will be remembered in family lore by Ryan (Libby) and Andy (Kevin) Kowal, Emma Kenny-Pessia, Catherine, Billy, and Lucy Natko, and great-niece Abby Kowal.
Susan's passion and purpose was found in her career as a Registered Nurse, a role she relished for nearly 40 years. She worked at Kent Hospital in Warwick in many departments, but mainly on overnight shifts and in the Emergency Department for much of her career. Many lives in the community were touched by her care, as she was always invested in the patients and their families. Some have called her a mentor, a selfless leader, and lovingly referred to her as "Mama Sue". This is also where Susan found the tight group of coworkers who became family to her, and who were so very loving and caring in her final days.
Several close friends have traveled through life with Susan since childhood, sharing her love of music, coastline, family, and laughter. These friends sustained and buoyed her, and made the hard times less And poignantly, Susan and her beloved old dog Molly left her home on the same day. It is fitting that neither was left behind without the other.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday February 7th at 10:00 am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Cowesett Rd. Burial will be Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours: Thursday February 6th from 4-7 pm at the Urquhart Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick under the direction of the Hill - Skeffington Funeral Home of East Greenwich.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
