78, of Irving Street, North Providence died Sunday, October 13, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at Home & Hospice Care of R.I. He was the husband of Beverly D. (Parrott) Ray. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Matthew B. and Mary (Bray) Ray.
Tom was the co-founder of the Allston Street Auto Parts Company for 50 years before retiring 8 years ago. He was a United States Navy Veteran of The Korean War.
Tom was a 4th Degree K of C Delaney Council. He formerly coached in the North Providence Amateur Hockey Association and the North Providence Little League East. He was an avid golfer.
Besides his wife, surviving are three sons Thomas J. Ray, Jr. (his wife, Joanne), Robert W. Ray, and James M. Ray (and his wife, Mary), one daughter, Donna L. Ray (her husband, Frank), one sister, Mary Emigh, eight loving grandchildren and brother of the late Matthew B. Ray Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence on Thursday at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veteran Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours at the J.F. SKEFFINGTON CHAPEL, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm.
