Thomas "Tom" H Senecal, 75 of Coventry, passed away early Tuesday morning at home, March 14th 2023.
Born in Providence Rhode island, to the late Frederick E and Doris L (Rooney) Senecal. He is survived by his loving wife, Jennie (Ellis) Senecal, adult children; son's Jason A.
of Fort Lauderdale Florida, Luke T and his wife Heather, of Pownal Maine and beloved daughter Carly E Senecal and granddaughter Maya Barber of Brunswick Maine.
Brothers Frederick E. Jr and his wife Carol, of East Greenwich, Robert T. of Coventry and John L and his wife Yoli of Goodyear Arizona. He is also survived by Ex-Wives
Christine Petrocelli, Sally R Doherty, Denise M Smith and niece, nephews and cousins.Tom was pre-deceased by Brothers Steven G, Bernard M. and Paul E Senecal.
A graduate of Coventry high School, Tom served in the US army for 2 years in the 3rd battalion , 64th Armored, 3rd infantry division, during Vietnam and was stationed in Germany as a Personnel Specialist. Tom was Honorably discharged with rank of Sergeant. He then served in the Army Reserves for four more years. After Tom's military
service, he started his career with General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton and University of Connecticut Apprenticeship program.
During his 42-year career as Piping Designer, he worked for several military shipbuilders. Marine systems Corporation / CDI Marine, as Designer and performed ship checks, traveling all over the country. Newport News in Virginia, Gibbs and Cox, Bath Iron Works in Maine and Ingalls Shipbuilding. Lastly, working for Northup Grumman Ship Systems/Huntington Ingalls in southern Louisiana.Some of the ship design projects Tom contributed to over the years were : CG 61 USS Monterey, DDG-51 Aegeis Class Destroyer, LHA - 6 Amphibious Assault ship and lastly, LPD 17 and LPD 21 San Antonio class amphibious transport dock programs. LPD 21 is also known as the USS New
York and is noted as being constructed with world trade center steel in its keel.
A Dependable hard worker, often waking early to work overtime to meet or exceed deadlines.
Tom was a lifelong football fan. He had two favorite teams, the New England Patriots and the New Orleans Saints. Teaching his wife Jennie a little about the game, so he
could have someone to talk to or cheer on his teams with. His other past times were camping, being a Cub Scout dad and chaperone for yearly gatherings; fishing and cooking. His favorite dishes to make were baked stuffed shrimp and Maryland crab cakes. He also enjoyed long day trips down to Grand Isle Louisiana or along the ocean road all
the way to the Alabama State line. A stop at the Stennis Space Center was on the trip home.
In addition, he enjoyed attending Mardi Gras parades, the Irish channel parade where the throws were all the vegetables to make your corned beef and cabbage dinner.
He liked Cajun zydeco music and passing time at the Treasure Chest and Harrah's casinos in New Orleans.
Before Alzheimer's, he liked to keep busy with home and yard work, gardening, and on return from errands he would always return with flowers for the table.
A funny, goofy man, who loved to make friends and family laugh and smile.
A good man with a good heart. Wonderful loving husband, father, brother and friend.
He will be dearly missed by all.
A Graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, March 17th at 1:00pm in East Greenwich Cemetery.
