Virginia C. White

Virginia Crawford White, beloved mother of four, grandmother of seven, and great grandmother of six passed away at Kent County Hospital on Saturday September fifth at the age of 94. Known to her friends as "Ginny", Virginia showed many talents in her youth and became proficient in many of the arts including piano, clarinet, tap dancing and theater performances. She met her husband Brayton Hayes White on Block Island Rhode Island in 1946, and the two were married in 1947.

Brayton and Ginny began their marriage in Barrington RI, subsequently moving to Worcester Ma, New Shoreham RI, and North Kingstown RI.

Virginia was legendary among friends and family as a culinary Phenom as anyone lucky enough to experience her cooking would attest. Her kitchen was filled daily with the smells of new recipes and family favorites as well as wonderful baked treats. Her talents inspired all of her children to aspire to emulate her skills.

Ginny's other interests included reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, beaching, entertaining and gardening. In the summer when not at the beach she could often be found working amongst the myriad of vegetable plants she and Brayton planted and nurtured.

Virginia was loved and respected by all who knew her, and her sense of humor and knack for storytelling enchanted all.

She is survived by her son Dana Francis White of Tucson, Az, Russell Crawford White of Cranston, RI, Christopher Brayton Hayes White of Norfolk, Va, and Deborah Lynn White of North Kingstown, RI, whose loving care enabled her to remain in her home until the end.

Her funeral and burial was private.
