William F. Doorley

84, of Boston, MA, died Thursday, April 28, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Brighton, MA. Born on January 13, 1936 in Providence, RI, William grew up in the Fruit Hill Area of Providence. William attended, St. Thomas Grade School, graduated from the La Salle Academy and went on to attend Providence College. William left Providence College after his first year and joined the U.S Army. William left the military with an honorable discharge and return to Providence College where he earned his degree in Political Science. William was Honored as a Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges. After College, William opened an investment company in Providence and held a seat on the NYSE. In William’s later years in drove school bus for disabled students in Boston. William is preceded in death by his parents, James H and Elizabeth J. (Fahey) Doorley as well as his brothers Robert E. Doorley and James H. Doorley Jr. William was quite active in the local AA programs offering his fellowship in assisting members in their recovery. He was one of a kind character and a very fun-loving person, always willing to help others. William is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews and childhood school friend Billy F. Wayland and many good friends. William will be laid to rest at the St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston, RI. Arrangements are being handled by J F Skeffington Funeral Home.
